Every time HoneyBook announces new features, I ask myself one question.
Will I actually use this when I’m setting up a client’s account?
After five years as a Certified HoneyBook Pro, I’ve learned that some updates are fun to click around with, but they don’t really change the way I build systems. Others solve problems my clients have been working around for years.
This latest round of updates falls into the second category.
Whether you already use HoneyBook as your CRM or you’re comparing different client management software, these updates have the potential to save you time, reduce extra steps, and make your client experience even better.
If you’re wondering whether HoneyBook is still the best CRM for service providers, these five new features make a pretty strong case.
Hi, I’m Karly
I’m a Certified HoneyBook Pro, and for the last five years I’ve helped creative entrepreneurs build organized, efficient HoneyBook accounts that actually work for the way they run their business. From complete account setups to strategy sessions, I help take the guesswork out of creating systems that save time and keep clients moving through every stage of their journey.
Thinking about improving your HoneyBook account? Whether you need a complete setup or just help making your current account work better, I’d love to help. Check out my Full Setup services or book a Consulting Session to get started.
1. HoneyBook Mini Sessions Finally Make Booking Easier
Availability: Live for photographers (with a wider rollout planned in the future).
If you’ve ever tried managing mini sessions, you know they can get messy fast.
Mini sessions have always run through lead forms, but lead forms had two big limitations. You couldn’t attach a contract, so there was no way to collect a signature at booking. And clients could only pay in full or pay a deposit, which meant sending a separate Smart File invoice later to collect the remaining balance.
The new mini session lead forms fix both of those problems.
Now clients can:
- Choose their session time.
- Sign their contract, which you can add to the form just like you would in a Smart File.
- Pay in full or split their payment when they book.
- Complete everything through one lead form.
That’s a huge improvement for photographers who run seasonal mini sessions throughout the year.
As someone who builds HoneyBook accounts for clients, I immediately saw how much manual work this removes. No more chasing signatures after booking or manually sending a second invoice for the balance. Everything happens inside one workflow.
If you’re a photographer, HoneyBook also shared a closer look at these updates in their blog, The New HoneyBook for Photographers Is Here.
2. Multiple Project Dates Eliminate a Lot of Workarounds
Availability: Live for everyone.
This might actually be my favorite update.
Before now, every project was limited to a single project date, and that was the only date that showed up in your calendar. Businesses managing projects over multiple days had to create workarounds or manually explain timelines to clients.
Now you can assign multiple dates to a single project, and every one of those dates shows up in your HoneyBook calendar.
That makes HoneyBook project management much more practical for businesses that handle:
- Multi-day weddings
- Retreats
- Conferences
- Multi-session photography packages
- Event weekends
Instead of forcing everything into one project date, your calendar now reflects what actually happens.
It’s a small change on paper, but it’s one I’ve wanted to see for a long time.
3. Built-In Galleries Keep Everything Under One Roof
Availability: Live for photographers and videographers.
One thing I love seeing is HoneyBook replacing the need for extra software.
The new Galleries feature lets photographers and videographers deliver images directly inside HoneyBook, giving clients one place to access contracts, invoices, messages, questionnaires, and now their galleries too.
Photo storage is generous, too. Essentials and Premium members get unlimited photo storage, while Starter members get 200 GB. Video storage is capped based on your HoneyBook subscription level, so check your plan if video delivery is a big part of your workflow.
That’s a better client experience because your clients aren’t jumping between multiple platforms trying to remember where everything lives.
It also reinforces what makes HoneyBook such a strong client management software. The more your business can operate from one platform, the simpler your workflow becomes.
4. Floor Plans Add More Value for Venues and Planners
Availability: Live for venues and planners.
Not every feature applies to every business, and that’s okay.
The new Floor Plans feature is built specifically for venues and event planners, allowing them to create layouts directly inside HoneyBook.
It’s another example of HoneyBook becoming more specialized for different industries instead of trying to make every feature work for everyone.
As someone who works with creative entrepreneurs across different industries, I like seeing HoneyBook invest in tools that solve real business problems instead of adding features just for the sake of adding features.
5. Library Folders Are the Organizational Upgrade I’ve Been Waiting For
Availability: Live for everyone.
I’ll admit it.
This isn’t the flashiest update.
But it might be the one that saves me the most time.
Your HoneyBook Library is where all of your uploaded images and PDFs live, and if you’ve ever spent several minutes scrolling to find the right file, you’ll understand why folders matter.
Now you can organize those images and PDFs into folders, which makes maintaining your account much easier as your business grows. To be clear, this update applies to the files in your Library, not your Smart Files or email templates, but for anyone with dozens (or hundreds) of uploaded files, it’s a big deal.
If you’ve ever spent several minutes searching your Library for the right brochure, questionnaire, email template, or Smart File, you’ll understand why folders matter.
Being able to organize everything into folders makes maintaining your account much easier as your business grows.
HoneyBook also refreshed the entire Library interface with a new layout, making it cleaner and easier to navigate.
What These Updates Tell Me About HoneyBook
Looking at these updates together, I see a clear direction.
HoneyBook isn’t just adding random features.
It’s continuing to become a more complete CRM for service providers by reducing the need for outside tools and making everyday tasks easier.
That’s good news whether you’re a photographer, planner, designer, coach, or another creative business owner.
The fewer platforms you’re bouncing between, the easier it is to stay organized and deliver a consistent client experience.
As a HoneyBook Pro, that’s exactly what I want for every client I work with.
More Than Just New Features
Not every software update deserves a celebration.
But these ones solve real problems.
Whether it’s simplifying mini session bookings, making project timelines more accurate, delivering galleries inside the client portal, or finally organizing your Library, these updates help HoneyBook become an even stronger CRM for service providers.
And the best part?
They’re designed to save you time every single month, not just look good in an announcement.
If you’re ready to take advantage of these new features but aren’t sure how to fit them into your current workflow, I’d love to help. Whether you need a complete HoneyBook setup or a strategy session to optimize your existing account, we can build a system that works for your business today and grows with you tomorrow.
